My opinion,
I believe they don’t however; I am an atheist so my opinions may be biased.
What is a miracle?
A miracle is something that varies from points of view but the common representation of a miracle is something that happens unexpectedly and has no reasonable or logical explanation. In older times people didn’t rely on science to explain things like how miracles came about, a miracle in old times could have just been a coincidence or just good luck. Nowadays we have more advanced science and theories of how miracles could of happened for example “the feeding of the 5000 – Matthew 14, 13” When Jesus took to the hills to be alone and people followed when the boy got his food out the others may have felt selfish and also got their food out to share.
Reasons For,
He is recorded to have performed hundreds of miracles that no one man could do without being somehow blessed by god or another supernatural spirit. Another reason for is that Christians believe and follow him and whatever Jesus set an example to do why would they follow and possibly be mislead by a false ‘prophet’? My final reason is that Jesus was a man much like god himself, kind, forgiving & patient.
Reasons Against,
Like I said in the first paragraph the miracles back in the era of Jesus’ life would seem less to us today because of the advices in science. Also the bible could be biased towards Jesus as they were only people after all and people make mistakes they could of misjudged what Jesus was saying or doing or forgotten the details of the event and accidentally fabricated the rest, the Bible may have even been translated wrong.
Conclusion,
I still don’t believe that miracles prove god exists or that miracles prove Jesus was the son of god, unfortunately it’s going to take more than a few supposed miracles and a book written 2000 years ago to sway my opinion. However miracles and the theory of god still interests me as it would be extremely ignorant to ignore it.
